Special Consensus on tap for Saturday
Acoustic band brings bluegrass to Pistol RiverThe Pistol River Concert Association presents Special Consensus on Saturday night. The four-person acoustic bluegrass band will perform at the Pistol River Friendship Hall at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings and Gold Beach Books. Tickets may also be reserved online at pistolriver.com/tickets or by calling 541-247-2848. Students can receive a $5 discount or refund available at the door with student ID. Special Consensus began performing in the Midwest in the spring of 1975. In 1984, it initiated the Traditional American Music (TAM) Program in schools across the country and began appearing on cable television and National Public Radio shows. The band has been featured in cover stories of the renowned bluegrass publication Bluegrass Unlimited in 1998, 2005 and 2010, and several of the band recordings have received Highlight Reviews and appeared on the National Bluegrass Survey chart in that publication. In November 2003, Special Consensus received a standing ovation at the Grand Ole Opry at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Special Consensus has toured the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Ireland and South America. |
