Supervisor finishes state term

The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) elected a new slate of Officers Nov. 21 at the CSAC Annual Meeting in San Jose, Santa Clara County, officially ending the year-long term of Del Norte County Supervisor David Finigan as president.

Finigan will continue to serve as CSAC’s immediate past president.

“It’s been a great year for me personally and for CSAC as an organization,” said Finigan. “I’m especially proud of the work we did to improve the lives of children in California during the past year.”

When he was installed as president of CSAC, Finigan declared his term in office to be the “Year of the Child” in county government. The CSAC Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution to that effect and 16 counties passed their own resolutions affirming their commitment to the lives of children in our communities.

CSAC advanced this agenda with its work on a number of issues, including the Affordable Care Act, child welfare services, foster youth, the environment, public safety, building healthy communities and the state budget. In meetings with legislators and the governor, the CSAC advocacy team and officers always took a moment to explain CSAC’s focus on children for 2013.
