Officer to the rescue

I’d like to thank Officer Apperson of the Sheriff’s Department for his help with two residents of the Surf Apartments on June 6.

Around 1 to 1:15 a.m. a neighbor and I got “stuck” in our elevator, actually stuck on the first floor.

We got out when the door finally opened, and my neighbor called our manager and 911 was dispatched.

Officer Apperson arrived in less than 15 minutes. Our manager arrived; seriously nothing could be done about the elevator until business hours.

I use a heavy walker; Officer Apperson carried it up three flights of stairs for me.

Officer Apperson was calm and courteous and it’s nice to know there are law enforcement officers in Crescent City who are also nice human beings.

‘Quick and efficient’

Recently we saw the need to call a local glass company to have a new display case door made for one of our exhibits at the Historical Society’s Main Museum. The service we received was not only very professional, but quick and efficient. They were called Tuesday afternoon, they measured on Wednesday and installed the door on Thursday.

Thank you so much, Crescent City Glass!

First 5 helps kids 0-5

On behalf of the breastfeeding support group, we would like to thank Del Norte First 5 for their generous donation of $500.

Breastfeeding is very important and can be difficult to do. Some mothers will breastfeed their babies with no problem, while others need help and support.

A few months ago a couple of dedicated women started a support group that meets twice a week at the First 5 building on Pacific Ave. They meet on Mondays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 4 p.m. For more information about the support group you can contact Tresita at 464-0955.

First 5 plays a very important role in our community. It focuses its services on children ages 0–5. This is the time when children’s brains are doing the most developing. First 5 can be there to assist with information and resources for your young child’s development.

Again, thank you First 5.
