RV park problemWe had a problem concerning our RV Park that was having a very negative effect on our campers. The details aren’t important, but the assistance that we received to resolve it was greatly appreciated. We would like to thank the Board of Supervisors, especially David Finigan, Mary McQuillen of the Yurok Public Safety Department and District Attorney Jon Alexander. It is nice to know that we have elected officials who take the time to listen and follow through in difficult situations. Tom and Carolyn Atlas, Mystic Forest RV Park
‘Thankful for moms like you’I would like to say thank you to Kim Osborne. As a parent of a teen I appreciate all the time you are giving in teaching self defense at the Del Norte High School. Each time I have dropped into your class, I find the kids smiling, attentive and truly enjoying what they are learning. I want you to know I am so thankful for moms like you. You are a gift to the community and I appreciate you. Anna Porter
Thank you, Honor FlightThis letter is to thank all those who made the “Honor Flight” possible for our dad, Robert A. Garrett, who had the honor of being one of the group who flew from Arcata to see the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 4 and 5. Dad said, “The memorial is a wonderful contribution to our country and to WWII. Thank you, Honor Flight, for the trip.” A special thanks goes to Katie Gavin of the DAR who did all the paperwork and for personally transporting Bob and Mr. Williams to and from the airport in Arcata. It was 10 p.m. when the flight arrived back at the Arcata airport to find a grand welcoming party waiting for us. The airport was full of people waving flags with signs saying “Welcome Home Heroes,” and a band was playing. Bob said it was an overwhelming experience and that it was an opportunity he would never have missed. So, thanks to you, Honor Flight, and a special thanks to Katie Gavin and the DAR of Crescent City for making the trip possible for the WWII Veterans of Crescent City. Making ‘positive difference’I want to provide a word of encouragement and thanks to all who have partnered with us at Reach Out Ministries, helping us to spread the good news of Jesus and meeting emergency needs through our food bank at 224 Elk Valley Road in Crescent City. We thank God for Lisa McCowan with State Farm Insurance, Cornerstone Church, mem- bers of Bethel Christian Center and many others for their generous assistance. Though our facility has been burglarized twice in the last month, somewhat impacting our effort to provide ministry and service, we are confident that through the continuing partnership of those who care, we will continue to make a positive difference here in Del Norte County.
