The Compassionate Friends chapter selected as model advisory board |
The Compassionate Friends (TCF) Northwest Coast Chapter Advisory Board has been chosen by TCF, Inc. as the model of a successful Advisory Board for the more than 625 United States Compassionate Friends chapters. On Sept. 22, a professional video was made by TCF, Inc., using members of the Northwest Coast Chapter Advisory Board for a training program on “How to Assemble a Successful Advisory Board.” Advisory Board members who participated in the video include Jeannine Barnard, RN; Dan Brattain, president of Cal-Ore Life Flight; Lori Kent, RN, executive director of Coastal Home Health and Hospice; Carol Layton, pastor of the United Methodist Church; Virginia Niehoff, RN, CCRN, CCM; Travis Sandusky, owner of Redwood Memorial Chapel; Richard Wier, owner of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel and Crematory; and Marie Witt, PhD. “The Northwest Coast chapter is one of a handful of chapters across the country with a chapter Advisory Board,” said chapter leader Georgia Cockerham. “Our Advisory Board members are of great help to the chapter with meeting locations, fundraising and outreach ideas, and assistance at chapter events. They also refer the bereaved to the chapter thereby furthering the TCF vision that “everyone who needs us will find us and everyone who finds us will be helped.” Those of us who keep the chapter going are deeply grateful to our Advisory Board members for their interest in, and support of our efforts to assist the bereaved. TCF is a not-for-profit self-help bereavement group for members of families in which one or more children have died at any age and from any cause. The meetings are held monthly in Crescent City, Brookings and Gold Beach. For more information call Georgia at (541) 469-5814. |
