Sterling (Garrett) Standring, of Crescent City and Chelsea Blue George, of Philomath, Ore., were married on Oct. 28, 2011, in the Portland, Ore., temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple spent a honeymoon in Oahu, Hawaii, and have recently returned to Crescent City.
Garrett is the son of James and Lori Standring of Crescent City. He
is a 2006 graduate of Del Norte High School where he was the senior
class president and active in sports, earning the League MVP in football
his senior year, and a white star in baseball, as well as performing in
the bands and the Madrigal Choir. He served a church mission to Montana
and has been studying exercise science and pre-dentistry at Brigham
Young University in Provo, Utah, where he will return with Chelsea for
the winter term starting in January 2012. This current semester Garrett
has been attending College of the Redwoods-Eureka and playing for the
Corsairs football team.
Chelsea is the daughter of Lonny and Mary George of Philomath. She is
a 2009 graduate of Philomath High School where she participated in
sports and was on the women’s varsity basketball team. She has been
working in her family’s food service and sales business and plans to
continue sales work in Utah after the couple relocates there.
Wedding attendants included the bride’s two sisters and her
roommates. The groomsmen were Garrett’s missionary companion friends.
Other special guests of the bride were her two brothers from Utah, and
her grandparents from Oregon. Special guests of the groom included five
of his siblings from Pennsylvania, Utah, and California, plus his
grandparents from Utah.
A reception was held in Philomath the day after the wedding, and a
local reception in Crescent City will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church at 1031 A St. Friends are welcome
to attend.
