Julie Jo Ayer Williams and Paul Madeira were married Aug. 31, 2013, at their family farm in Fort Dick.

Julie Jo, daughter of Connie Ayer of Riverside, and Craig Williams of Irvine, graduated from Humboldt State University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in geography and a master’s in environmental engineering.

Paul is the son of Donna Madeira and the late Lou Madeira of Folsom. He is a 2002 graduate of Humboldt State University, having earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish.

The couple own and operate Ocean Air Farms in Fort Dick.

The bride was driven by her mother into the ceremony on a vintage tractor owned by her late birth father, John Ayer.

Wedding attendants included Michael and Dean Ayer, standing up for the bride, and Anna Gleghorn and Peter Madeira standing up for the groom. The bride’s nieces and nephews acted as flower girls and ring bearers.

The flowers and vegetables at the event were all grown on the couple’s organic farm. A barn dance followed dinner.

The ceremony was performed by Brita Gudmunsen.

The newlyweds are planning a honeymoon when farming season is over.
