Woman with local roots at work on second book

Suzanne Pennell, descendent of Del Norte County pioneers, has published her first book, “The Slave,” a Christian allegory written especially for children and young adults.

Suzanne is a direct descendent of Dora and Cay Pennell, one of the founding families of the Fort Dick Church. True to her heritage, Suzanne has found her own way of preserving and disseminating Christian principles.

Inspired by reading C.S. Lewis and others, she shows, in story form, the difference between being a slave to sin, desire and  fear, and choosing to be a servant of Christ. Suzanne has a Master of Arts degree in elementary education and is able to present a book which children can understand and enjoy.

Currently, she lives in Tulsa, Okla., and is a substitute teacher at a Christian school while busy writing her second book, tentatively titled, “The Crown.”

“The Slave” is available at the Bookcomber and online at Amazon.com.

Suzanne’s sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Mark Raintree still live at the long time residence in Fort Dick, as does her mother, Helen.
