Letters: Lipstick on pig': How left really feels about women |
In response to letter written by Steven Yarbrough ("Is Irene Tynes ready to serve as vice president?" Sept. 9), I thought the liberal left was proud to be the champion for the rights of women and children, yet you choose to attack a 17-year-old child. You further mock Gov. Palin's record, demeaning her ability to be both a "hockey mom" and a career woman. But don't worry, you are not alone, I think Sen. Obama showed his true colors also when he made the "lipstick on a pig" comment recently. Make no mistake folks, this is how the liberal left really feels about women. You then question Gov. Palin's experience. Gov. Palin has run a city and a state. Barak Obama has never run anything, not even a small city or state. Barak Obama has spent less than 180 working days on the Senate floor, and has never introduced any meaningful legislation in that short time. Gov. Palin has done more than talk about change, she has effected change in her own state, and will not be afraid to reform our federal government. Then keep one more thing in mind, before you accuse Palin of having questionable associations: Senator Obama is a friend of Bob Ayers, a member of the radical, violent, Weather Underground in the 1970s; has had business dealings with the convicted slumlord Tony Rezko; and considers the fanatical Rev. Jeremiah Wright a mentor. Obama has also said he would sit down and speak with our nation's enemies. Yet Obama refused to sit down and speak with our injured soldiers when he was in Germany, choosing to work out in the gym instead. Finally, remember that Gov. Palin is a vice presidential candidate, whose experience and class heavily outweighs that of your presidential candidate. We should continue the great American debate on issues like abortion and the ongoing war on terror. I would ask the Democratic Party to stop attacking children and working mothers, and lets get down to the real issues here. Inform yourself on the candidates' positions and make your choice based on facts. You are left with two choices at the end of the day: those who talk about change, and those who have effected it. Lets get back to the issues rather than allow the left-wing radicals to smear candidates in an effort to avoid the issues that affect us as Americans. Barry Evert Crescent City |
