What an absolute crock! The City Council members can vote a pay increase and a benefits package for themselves. Since they are supposed to be working for the people, shouldn't the people be the ones to decide if a pay raise and benefits package are appropriate? I wish I had a job where I could give myself a raise. Now, a raise may be needed, but my problem is with how they get it. If City Council members want to do the right thing, they will draw up a resolution in which the citizens of Crescent City vote on any and all pay raises and benefit packages.
