Letters: Concerned about behavior of local law enforcement

I have seen cops out of control, and there are hundreds of people who tell me of similar incidents. I have made it a point to listen. Why won't the people in charge of our law system do something besides deny this fact? They do not want to hear it.

There are some police who are not law-breakers and very polite. But of all the illegal actions that I have experienced, and the experiences told to me by others, why are not actions being taken if an officer is caught lying, or misrepresenting some facts or simply being just plain rude. These rogue officers get retired, quietly. I worry the leaders are too worried about bad light on the department. The more I hear, the more I have to try to educate people about this truth. It is all over the country; this treatment of people can be less than human, and if they are poor especially.

I want to know how far the sheriff's deputy was from Eric Jones when he shot on the Hiouchi Bridge. That is an easy question and a very pertinent one. Some facts in this case should be told to help the public understand this tragedy. Three officers were on that bridge? Fact.

The stories are consistent with the abuses that are happening. "They" do not like the cop-watchers watching! I wonder why? Innocent people who have broken no law get not only rude treatment, but these people who are hired to serve and protect harass and provoke people to anger, so maybe the person will cross their line. This is true stuff. Ask almost anyone who is not an employee, or a friend or relative. I have, and I do not like the answers.

It is not only the police system with rogue activities. There is also a problem with the public defenders (pretenders). I have watched in court for quite some time and these lawyers are never prepared; there is lack of communication. People have to go back to court for months just to get a simple issue taken care of. This is financially draining for a person.

There is demeaning treatment and action to the people they are representing.

We are watching because there is truly a need in this area.
