Letters: Despite Eagle Scout project cleanup, Lake Earl still littered

On Wednesday, Aug. 27, I started an Eagle Scout project that took place at Lake Earl.

Sixteen volunteers worked clearing an area of trash that ended up weighing a total of over 3 tons and filled a 30-cubic-yard Dumpster. The Dumpster was donated by Del Norte Disposal and the trash was taken by Solid Waste Management.

I'd like to thank those departments for their donations. I'd also like to thank the Department of Fish and Game for donating a property line map and giving the OK to clean up the area.

It was nice to see the big difference in the area before and after the project. It was a shame though, that more couldn't be done and that there's still a lot more to clean up out there. Maybe some day soon more people will help clean up and less people will stop dumping in the area.
