Letters: Editorial in Triplicate, media wrongly blame America |
I am amazed that the Los Angeles Times editorial ("Some authenticity in China's shallow pool," Aug. 19) was even given the newsprint by The Triplicate. Apparently, everything negative in this world is directly a result of Americans. Our just breathing causes heartache to the rest of the world. Give me a break! Since when did we as a people ever expect others to do any more than treat their own people and their neighbors with respect and dignity? Did we require that China follow our lead? Is the Russian invasion of Georgia also our fault because we forced the rest of the world to use oil? Because our people enjoy competition and innovation, did we force others to join this lifestyle? Will there ever be a time when the news media will stop blaming America and instead hold the other countries accountable for their own actions? You would think that, with the shrinking demand for newspapers, the media would finally figure out who pays their salaries. Karen Plechaty Crescent City |
