Letters: Events at Beachfront Park should not be changed |
This is regarding the article "Club pulls out of Sea Cruise" in Friday's paper. Why does city Planner Will Caplinger, or anyone else for that matter, really feel the need to change Sea Cruise, Fourth of July, etc., at Beachfront Park? As stated, the park was built for the kids, families and everyone else to enjoy year-round, especially at special events. As an arborist, Mr. Caplinger and fellow arborists who have been tracking the canopy of trees in the park for the last 20 or so years should have thought about planting new trees if the older ones were dying off. While I appreciate their concern, I do believe that one day of Sea Cruise cars on the grass and one day of Forth of July celebration, etc., will not do permanent harm to the park.
