Letters: Government forgets that this country belongs to the people |
Hello Crescent City. I recently visited you, and it is wonderful to see so many new businesses. But I was taken aback by the fisheries being closed, as I wanted fish to bring home with me. I so enjoyed the ocean and its beauty. Good thing that is one thing the government hasn't yet figured out how to ruin. My husband Doug and I and our children spent many hours of happiness playing there as the children grew up. I surely do miss the ocean when Oklahoma is having her heat waves. I was able to see several of our friends, and some I wasn't able to see. It was different coming home to see the things we shared as a family there. To sit alone and watch the ocean isn't as much of a pleasure as it was before I lost Doug. I am so proud of you, Crescent City. When the government thought our town would die from the cruelty of its taking the timber and shutting the mills, you have survived and you are doing very well. Congratulations. The government just doesn't know our hearts and who we serve. It forgets this isn't its country, but ours. God Bless America. Jane Peals Cushing, Okla. |
