Letters: It's too bad loggers aren't here anymore to help with fires

So: Highways 199 and 299 were closed because of fires.

It's a small price we pay for living on the North Coast. In days of yore, the forest products industry, the loggers, were always there using their considerable skills and can-do spirit in helping control fires.

Without being asked, their bulldozers, water tankers and skilled personnel with chain saws were of monumental help.

All that considerable help is almost all gone. Too bad!

The loggers were much more than an economic asset before some unthinking public severely limited the industry with "set-asides."
