Letters: Legislation needs to pass to stop damaging cluster bombs

Thank you for covering the interests of those who live in our area. Perhaps I have missed any mention of cluster bombs in the Triplicate.

Our Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer have sponsored and co-sponsored the important legislation (S.594) that will ban cluster bombs in or near civilian occupied areas. These bombs may cover an area the size of several football fields. They make Iraqi neighborhoods uninhabitable, killing and deforming the innocent. "Duds" continue to do so long after peace is declared.

How can we go on using such distruction when the International Red Cross and the United Nations have condemned its use? I am distressed and ashamed of our actions!

I encourage readers to write their elected officials to work tirelessly to pass S.594 and stop the slaughter for future decades.
