Letters: Noisy motorcyclists likely know they are inconsiderate |
Wende Owen in her letter to the Daily Triplicate on June 18 asks if loud motorcyclists know how they are hated for making excessive noise. A rhetorical question, perhaps, but worth exploring. Hate is a strong word. In all of my 72 years, I have never really hated anyone except a bully in grade school who was a couple of years bigger than I, and these people riding loud motorcycles. The school bully I don't think about much anymore, but these motorcycle bullies keep coming back. Understand that I am not talking about people that ride responsibly on properly muffled machines. I'm talking about the wannabe Hell's Angels making noise at the level of a big rig Jake break or artillery fire. You would think they would be aware of what they are doing. I think they know. And I suspect they are not going to stop on their own. Maybe reading Wende's or my letter will help. I doubt it. I wonder if a highway patrolman has ever written a ticket for motorcycle noise?
