Letters: People live in Del Norte forthe natural beauty, not stores |
This letter is in agreement with Jon Schenck's opinion piece, "Let's keep Del Norte rural" (June 20). If you want more big box stores that pay minimum or just above and send the profits out of town, road rage, people that don't stop for you in a crosswalk or give you the right of way or don't say "hi" or "excuse me" when meeting or cutting in front of you, people that litter because they can't find a trash can and no one is around, tagging our buildings or signs, not using their turn signals to let you know which way they are going, like Jon said, please move out to these locations. Don't bring them here. This little corner of the world is great but not perfect. We can't fix most problems we do have. People don't come here for big box stores. They come because we have what they want: clean beaches, cool weather, lots of camping and hiking and fishing, the redwoods. We are what they want and most do come back to live and retire here because of all this. John Cornejo Crescent City |
