Letters: Resident opposed to council's actions, not wastewater plant |
Recently I read an article where the Triplicate stated I opposed the wastewater treatment plant. I am writing to set the record straight. I am indeed for the much needed wastewater treatment plant. What I am opposed to, however, is the fact that the City Council refuses to raise the water and sewer hookup rates, thereby making the citizens of Crescent City pay more than their fair share of this wastewater treatment plant instead of the developers. The current City Council has done everything to keep from raising the sewer water hookups by appointing an ad hoc committee, which meets once a week and to date has resolved nothing. In the meantime. We are a poor community that allows the developers an extreme discount and in my opinion that is just wrong. What will happen when people can no longer afford to pay for their water/sewer bills? It will be interesting to see what the City and Council members come up with in bleeding this turnip. Is bankruptcy on the future agenda? Linda Sutter Crescent City |
