In reference to Lenda Beck's letter about certain law enforcement personnel ("Concerned about behavior of local law enforcement," Aug. 23). Linda is so correct in all of her statements; this has happened to us step by step, and is still happening. The new law personnel must have some kind of personality check. Tests are not perfect because some power-hungry person may still slide by. Yes there are some good officers. Mr. Clawson's letter ("Cops are not out looking to get' people just to stay busy," Aug. 26) is a perfect example of not admitting that rogue officers will provoke people to cross the line, they will also lie to protect themselves and each other. Mr Clawson, Mrs. Beck and I are not the only two persons that feel this way. Margaret Baker Crescent City |
