Letters: Some TV stations don't comein using digital converter box |
For years we've been watching KEET with our amplifying rabbit ears here in Crescent City. Recently we purchased a digital TV converter box and after hooking it up correctly we found that the auto scan could not find any digital stations with a signal strong enough to receive. I called the manufacturers of the box and also a local television installer and service company and they told me that the digital signal isn't necessarily stronger: that with the analog you tune it in yourself and so can get a snowy picture, but with the digital, you either get it or you don't. And I guess we don't. The one thing I'm hoping is that the station's signal may be strong after you're not broadcasting in analog as well. Either that or that KEET comes up with some way of boosting the signal for Crescent City. Otherwise we may be losing a number of viewers up here and free TV may become a relic of the past.
