Letters: Supervisor McClure carries out far-left agenda with deception |
Residents of Del Norte County, especially those of you who live in District 2, wake up! Martha McClure has spent almost 12 years on the Board of Supervisors and caused the county government to conduct its business on a largely special-interest basis. Her disasters far outweigh her modest successes, and she has carried out a far-left agenda fraught with public deception. I read a letter in last Friday's paper ("Martha McClure comes from honest, hard-working family") and was appalled at what the blinders of "good-old-boy" cronyism can do to a caring voter. McClure's family is not on the ballot. Martha is indeed the incumbent candidate with a political future on the line. The rest of us should be holding McClure accountable at this critical juncture for not having listened to or represented majority opinions. My wife and I are staunch Democrats. We have lived in District 2 for a long time. I am a retired educator and now own a successful business. We are tired of hearing one thing from McClure's mouth and getting something quite different. McClure didn't support Supervisor Mike Sullivan's recent attempt to keep supervisors from being paid extra money to attend their assigned meetings. His motion died without a second. Says a lot about The Triplicate-endorsed incumbents, eh? To quote a famous U.S. senator, "The devil is in the facts." I hope we residents in District 2 can stand up tall and do everyone in the county a big favor by voting for Charles Slert on June 3. LeRoy Bieber Crescent City |
