Letters: Support marriage amendment opposing gay unions

I recently read a report on the increase in AIDS deaths in HIV-positive people. Cancer deaths are increasing among these people. Anal cancer, Hodgkin's disease, liver cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer melanoma, throat cancer, and colorectal cancer are all on the rise. HIV deaths are becoming a very large chronic cancer killer in America, according to the report in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Anal sex among homosexual men is spreading the human papillomaviruses, or HPV, the known cause of anal cancer.

About 30 types increase the risk for cancer, including cervical cancer, which are passed through sexual contact with an infected partner. We need to warn our children and protect our families against these cancers. We must support the California Marriage Amendment, which defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, and protect our families.
