Letters: Two exciting candidates, Slert and Finigan, will help county |
I would like to encourage residents to vote for two important candidates in next Tuesday's election for county supervisor: David Finigan and Charles Slert. Finigan is office manager where I work at Ming Tree Real Estate, so I know firsthand how hard-working, dedicated and effective he is at everything he does. In addition to serving on more than 20 local committees, David has aggressively built relationships in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., that give us a voice at the table on the greater stage that we never had before. Locally, one of David's main focus areas is children. As a founder and commissioner of what is now known as First 5 Del Norte, David believes in the importance of positive influences on children when they're young to help prevent the need for corrective measures later. David also fights for public access to ATV trails and Mill Creek, a "no net loss" for public land acquisitions, infrastructure and road projects to benefit economic development. Like David, Charles Slert offers voters a unique and exciting opportunity to elect a supervisor with the vision, dedication and experience to create a better future for Del Norte County. As a world-renowned architect who over 25 years in the business has won numerous national, state and regional awards for his innovative and sensitive designs, Charles will bring expertise to the board that will benefit us greatly. Many of the talents and skills Charles has developed as an architect are needed in the position of supervisor, including listening to people's needs, desires and problems; envisioning innovative solutions that respect and blend with the existing environment; and coordinating with various agencies to turn those solutions into reality. Charles appreciates the importance of maintaining the many governmental grants that support Del Norte County, but he sees beyond our current status with ideas to develop this area's potential to the point where we are no longer dependent on them. Please step up to the plate to vote for David Finigan and Charles Slert. Christine Walters Crescent City |
