Consider mentoring students

I am writing this article to let you know about getting involved in the Foster Grand-parent Program and the school district's after school program called Kids First.

The Foster Grandparent Program is nationwide and has been in existence for 41 years across the United States. The Foster Grandparent Program in Del Norte County is very successful because men and women volunteer at the different schools, working one-on-one with the children in the classroom. It is needed by the teachers because one teacher must do so much with so many in the classroom. A lot of the children need the extra help also and so we owe a big thank you to the Foster Grandparents who give their time to help in the schools.

The Foster Grandparents received recognition from the president of the United States, and what an honor that is. We also are awarded pens for years of service and other things we do.

The after school program is a very necessary program and is based on educational activities. It is a safe and structural program and important to the children.

I am a volunteer Foster Grandparent in the after school program at Joe Hamilton School, and I enjoy working with the children and love what I'm doing. The instructors get paid a decent wage, so if you are wondering how to supplement your income you might want to look into it by contacting the coordinator onsite.

Overturn Roe v. Wade

On Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court made abortion the right of every pregnant woman in this land. Since then, more than 40 million innocent lives have been snuffed out in the name of human freedom. This holocaust is carried out quietly by doctors, so the screams are not heard and the blood is not seen, in direct violation of their Hippocratic Oath to do no harm, if such doctors would ever take such an oath.

Why was such a thing allowed to become the law of the land? The reasons given are many, and they stem from the culture of death mentality whose norms are: It's your body, you can do what you want; you shouldn't have a baby you don't want; you are not good enough, rich enough, smart enough, etc. to have this baby. All are lies and you can be sure they come from the father of all liars, Satan.

This god-like right given to us by the Supreme Court is a right only God has. Human beings are not God, and we don't have the right to choose life or death for any human being in any stage of their existence. Human life in all its forms is sacred and governments and individuals should protect and nourish it from conception to natural death. Therefore, it is an unnatural and immoral law that must be overturned. If you are pregnant and in despair, please go to the Pregnancy Care Center and get the help and care you and your baby need.
