Rick and I attend many community events together in the evenings and on weekends. We support many of the community’s good causes and take as many photos as we can while we’re there.

Rick and I each carry cameras but he is by far the better photographer. One reason is his wealth of experience—taking his first photos as a kid with a Kodak Hawkeye camera he acquired by redeeming his family’s S&H Green Stamps. His first published photo appeared in his Portland State University campus newspaper and he was hooked. His experience is coupled with a natural talent, an eye for framing special moments.
Today I’d like to share some of Rick’s photos that I think capture the spirit of this year’s rodeo. They weren't among the many photos from the county fair that already appeared in the newspaper.
