Thank you to our community, Smith River, for holiday donations

Webster’s Dictionary defines “community” as a group of people with common interests. We of Smith River United Methodist Church define community as “Smith River” because of the spirit of helpfulness in our little area.

As Thanksgiving approached, our plan to help several families here for the holiday from our ongoing food pantry took form and the word went out. Ray’s Food Center rallied immediately, individuals donated money and food, the youth group of Crescent City United Methodist Church contributed over 700 cans of food, and Smith River School and the Head Start program helped also.

With much love and hard work, “Project Thanksgiving Love,” developed into 42 boxes of food, beautiful, tasty and nourishing.

Thank you, “community,” aka “Smith River.”
