Letters to the Editor January 3, 2008

Why not ask residents what kinds of businesses they want here?

I have two questions regarding the article “Del Norte retail study gets mixed reviews,” Jan. 2.  Why does it cost $35,000 plus another $15,000 for a total of $50,000 for a study on what businesses would do well here?

Couldn’t you just take a county-wide poll to see what we want here? New clothing stores would really be welcomed, especially a big and tall store for both men and women. We tall women have a very tough time finding clothes that are long enough, but aren’t too big and baggy.

Also, as far as food, cars etc., why not bring the businesses that we see on the TV all the time, like Sizzler, Olive Garden, Applebee’s, Sonic,  as well as Lithia for cars, etc.

I was just curious and I thought some of these suggestions would be worth looking into. In the past you have published a poll for readers to vote for their “favorite” hairdresser, waitress, health care professional, etc.

Why not publish one of those polls for what businesses we’d like to see come here? Just food for thought.
