An alternative to failed leaders, political families

Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush are supposed to be the frontrunners for 2016? Are you kidding me?

May I suggest somebody different than somebody from the failed royal families of American politics?

I think that Martin Dempsey of the Joint Chiefs of Staff would be an excellent candidate for president.

Martin Dempsey was the man who convinced Obama not to bomb Syria last summer. Martin Dempsey told Obama it would be a complete disaster to bomb Syria, and he was absolutely right.

I think that Obama is the worst president we ever had, even worse than the actor Ronald Reagan. It is certainly true that Obama is easily the biggest disappointment to ever occupy the White House.

The corruption of the Obama administration is off the charts, even by Chicago standards.

Joe Biden’s youngest son was recently named to the board of directors of the largest gas company in Ukraine. This is just one example of why the Obama administration has gone out of its way to demonize and isolate Russia.

Russia just signed the biggest gas deal in history with China. Good job, Obama! Good job, Joe Biden!

Obama’s secretary of state, John Kerry, has been acting like the 21st century version of Joseph McCarthy lately, doing his best to bring back the Cold War.

Small wonder John Kerry’s assistant Victoria Nuland is a neoconservative firebrand who used to work for Dick Cheney. Obama and Joe Biden are doing everything exactly the way the neoconservatives want them to on foreign policy.

Obama is stirring things up with Syria again despite the warnings of Martin Dempsey.

Obama and NATO bombed Libya without the consent of Congress. Obama is supporting a neo-fascist government in Ukraine that has five Nazis in their cabinet.

Obama just announced that our troops will remain in Afghanistan for two more years.  Two trillion dollars have been spent on the foreign policy adventure in Iraq and $1 trillion have been spent in Afghanistan.

Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us about the military industrial complex in 1961. Obama is a perfect example of the military industrial complex because he is acting the same way a Dick Cheney or John McCain would.

Maybe Martin Dempsey can save us from this military industrial complex mess.

Applaud parents for public display in disciplining child

This is in response to the front page article titled “Parents discipline child with public display of confession,” printed on June 7.

I applaud the parents for their very public display of punishment. Their intent, I’m sure, was to embarrass and shame the child into no more lying.

In a day and age where any kind of physical, hands-on punishment is considered child abuse, I give the parents kudos for what seemed like an adequate form of punishment. And it just may have worked.

The mistake the parents made was in letting the public make such a big deal of it. Thereby canceling out the display as a form of punishment. In the child’s mind it probably seemed cool, especially when the public wanted pictures of him with them.

The parents should have refused all requests for pictures or any kind of contact with the child.
