Sad to see Dr. Tardiff sell practice, but very pleased with Dr. Martello
As everyone knows by now, Dr. Tardiff has sold his veterinary practice. Like everyone else, I was concerned and saddened by that. Not only has Dr. Tardiff been my personal vet, he was also the “go-to” guy for the Humane Society of Del Norte. In addition to providing excellent care for the animals, he went above and beyond to generously provide low cost spay/neuter clinics for our community.
Well I am here to put your mind at ease about Dr. Tardiff’s replacement. Not only is the new doctor a talented and capable vet, he has exceeded my hopes in the generosity department. Dr. Martello is a breath of fresh air. He’s great with the animals and really seems to enjoy his work. In the short three months he has been here, he has already done two low-cost spay/neuter clinics for our community.
Wrong to say that seizure victims can choke on tongue
An article (“Man says his dog fished him out of the river,” Sept. 11) raises some questions.
I wonder about the possibility of a 40-pound dog dragging what appears to be a 200-pound man out of the water far enough to air dry.
I was completely lost when the article stated that “Zoolu (the dog) is even trained to pull Angel’s tongue out of his throat if he swallows it during a seizure.” It is a fact that one cannot swallow their tongue. If they could, how do you train a dog to put his head into a person’s mouth, then open his mouth enough to secure a tongue, and who would be dumb enough to act as the practice dummy?
Why have we forgotten the ability to compromise?
What are the reasons that that we are still fighting and we are still not the mecca that everyone wants us to be?
The reason is that no one wants to meet in the middle and understand that there should be room for everyone that is working and is here to have it all! With as much land that has been sold or given to the state and feds there should be enough room for everyone. However, that is not the case.
Every single time an area is closed to hunters there will be more hunters that will not buy hunting licenses that fund Fish and Game. I am not a hunter and with more areas closed my husband has quit buying his licenses, which takes away from the money that Fish and Game needs to survive. Then we have the national forests that some say they don’t want anyone to drive on because if they may someday want to go there they do not want to hear an engine? If they ever decide to go there?
