Any savings is good, and Hambro’s bid was cheaper
Are Hambro Group and the citizens of Del Norte County really being misled or is bad information being spread regarding the decision of the Solid Waste Management Authority Board?
Yes, Hambro does have companies in Arcata, Lenoir, N.C., and Grants Pass Ore. In each of those companies the employees employed in those areas kept there jobs. The profits of each of those companies return to Del Norte County, which is where the parent company Hambro Group, Inc. is located (unlike Recology, which traces its origins to San Francisco).
Recology (Nor Cal Waste Management) is the parent company to two dozen subsidiaries providing solid waste services to more than 50 communities and the exclusive service provider in San Francisco.
Julindra helps community too
I started in the recycling business in the early 1970s when Anheuser Busch distributors started recycling aluminum beverage cans. During the intervening 40 years, Julindra Recycling continued to expand the types of items accepted for recycling. I was a green business long before that term came into being. In 2000, recycling became my sole line of business.
In 2004, I became involved in diverting recyclable materials from the Del Norte County waste stream as a part of Recology’s free curbside recycling program. My company recovers and sorts all the curbside and dropoff-point recycle items Recology Del Norte receives. Through this partnership, I’ve been able to increase my overall recycle volume by one-third and help increase the waste diversion for Del Norte County.
Julindra Recycling, a local company, is part of the recent Request for Proposal (RFP) awarded to Recology Del Norte. I am committed to continuing to provide cost effective recycling services to my home community. My staff has grown roughly 44 percent as a direct result of our involvement in the waste stream recycling since its inception.
Chairman grateful for all who helped with parade on the 4th
First of all I wish to thank the Fourth of July committee for its decision to delay the parade start time to accommodate the Christians of our community.
Secondly, I thank the churches for changing their schedules so their members could attend the parade. We are a nation specially blessed by God. Taking the time to recognize and show appreciation for those blessings is always good.
I want to thank all of the parade participants for taking the time to create some wonderful floats and entertaining entries. Parades are fun for those in the line-up and those watching. The time the entrants devote to the parade is greatly appreciated.
Agreement ensures Yurok students can learn their culture
I would like to send a special thanks to the families, ACLU, and law offices of Don Brown for all their hard work with the Margaret Keating School closure matter.
It has been a long time since we received any resolution. I would also like to state that this agreement should be considered a historic moment for the Yurok Tribe, for even though we did not get our school reopened here, for grades sixth-eighth, on the Yurok reservation we have ensured all Yurok students have a chance to be exposed to the Yurok culture.
