Obama is a mere public servant who is not listening to us

Congratulations, Obama-crats! You’ve done it! You’ve passed Obama-care!

Well now, this election year, we’re going to do it. We are not going to re-elect you. You will be out of a job. The reason? You did not listen to “We the People,” your bosses.

Funds allocated unwisely by school district, City Council

About the return of the speech class to Del Norte High School’s curriculum, “DN High Speech Team the talk of the town,” March 17, as a retired teacher who practiced the principles of donating countless hours, heart and money, and dedication to students, parents, and classroom activities, I’ve wondered who was the lame-brain person red-penciling this class back in 2005?

Academia for years has eliminated or decreased live-career-serving classes like home economics, auto shop, wood shop, metal shop, etc., a horrendous injustice against blue-collar future craftsmen who build our nation.

Dismayed at council’s disregard

As a resident of San Francisco who has visited Del Norte County (Klamath, Crescent City) almost yearly since 1964, I am dismayed to now find the same attitude of disregard for the citizens exhibited by the Crescent City Council that has existed in San Francisco for many years.

Granting a “bonus” to department heads, or any other employee, for doing their job, even if they do it extremely well, is unacceptable, especially at a time when budgets are in the red. Might I suggest a letter of commendation for any employee who goes above and beyond for the city. A letter is effective and very low-cost.

Time to look out for all people of Crescent City, not just a few

This is in regards to the article on the March 16 front page of The Daily Triplicate, “Council approves department head bonus plan.” The article pretty much boggled my mind because not long prior to that article, the city’s higher-ups were just so upset about the possibility of the sewer rate increases being rolled back. Oh, the city was going to go bankrupt, the money wasn’t available to meet the loan obligations if the sewer rates were reversed to the 2007 rates.
