Pages of History: Calvin Richards is war casualty

From the pages of the Del Norte Triplicate, August 1945:

Pfc. Calvin Richards, Tank Destroyer Battalion, who was with Gen. George S. Patton’s Army, was accidentally shot in Bad-Kreuznack, Germany. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richards of Smith River. Calvin was 21 years of age. He was buried with full military honors amid friends with a chaplain of the Protestant faith officiating.

He was a devoted friend and a valiant soldier; a determined foe of the enemy; asset to his organization and credit to the country’s army he so nobly served.
