Miss Del Norte County, winner of the county fair queen contest, is sent to the California State Fair to reign over its Del Norte Days, but does not participate in the Maid of California contest, according to Chuck Glover, manager of the Del Norte fair. The state fair comes too soon after the county fair.
Despite it being a windy day, the crowd was not deterred, nor was the coronation of Queen Betty Epperson to reign over the 1960 Del Norte county fair.
Yielding the crown to the new queen was Page Hammond, queen of the 1959 fair. First runner-up for the 1960 title was Princess Delores Mattson and second runner-up was Princess Judy Dorrah.
