Pages of History: The story of the hat that went to sea

From the pages of the Del Norte Triplicate, January 1951.

A man hates to lose a favorite hat and this is a story about a hat that hated to lose its man.

Don Richcreek, who fishes out of Crescent City, hit some rough water last week off the Oregon coast. Some pretty rough waves Don and his fellow fisherman, Dean Holder were ploughing through got rougher and one of them bashed out all the front windows of their cabin.

Dean suffered a cut under the eye and Don came out okay except that he was minus his hat.
