If you were to look at the old red and white Warrior blanket that hung on the wall in the old high school gym and then for several years in Thunen gym at the new school, you would see the name L. Conner for the 1948 football season.
Les was selected the team’s most inspirational player, but he was also the Warriors’ most outstanding defensive player. He was fun to watch.
Del Norte was still in the growing pains, from being back to playing 11-man football for only the third year after playing six-man football toward the end of World War II. The high school had a new coach by the name of Telmud Kramer and he had a team of about 18 players.
