Del Norte High grapplers take third at Battle of the Border tournament

CRESCENT CITY —  The  Del Norte High wrestling team had a solid performance at its annual Battle of the Border tournament on Saturday, garnering third place overall.

The Warriors also had two grapplers take first in their respective divisions.

Warrior boys fall to Brookings

YREKA —  The Del Norte High varsity basketball team  could not get past Brookings-Harbor in the championship game at a tournament in Yreka Saturday night.

Del Norte girls lose to Mazama in title game

YREKA —  The Del Norte High varsity girls basketball team placed second at a tournament in Yreka, losing 56-40 to Mazama of Klamath Falls, Ore., in the title game Saturday night.

Del Norte went 2-1 at the tourney and are currently 2-2 for the year.

Warriors earn 5 Big 4 FB White star honors

Del Norte also receives five Big 4 honorable mention awards

Those who earned White Stars were senior wide receiver and defensive back Cody Hoffman, senior quarterback and defensive back Taylor Duncan,  junior wide receiver and defensive back Roy Ward and two senior offensive lineman, Dru Parker and Conrad Husted, who also played defense.

The Del Norte High girls varsity basketball team hopes to build upon the progress made last season.

After wining only six games the year before, the Warriors went 10-16 in 2007-08, and the squad won its first Big 5 Conference game since the 2005-06 season.

Del Norte lost only two starting seniors from last year in Bailee McCulloch and Robyn Suzuki and have a few key players  back this season.

CRESCENT CITY —  The Del Norte High girls varsity basketball team had a smashing home debut Tuesday night.

Against Ferndale, the Warriors played as an entire team, dominating the game from the opening tip-off on the way to the 50-27 victory to improve to 3-2 for the year.
