DN boys tennis team blanks McKinleyville 9-0

MCKINLEYVILLE — The Del Norte High boys tennis team handily took care of McKinleyville on Saturday, downing them 9-0 to go to 2-1 for the year.

After falling 9-0 to Arcata in the first game of the season, the Warriors have put together a two-game winning streak.

"Everyone played well," head coach Kirk Olesen said, adding several players have drastically improved and "stepped up."

In the No. 1 seed match, Blake Polidore of Del Norte downed Brian Middaugh 6-0, 6-1.

No. 2 David Standring won 6-2, 6-3 over Logan Coe, while Warrior No. 3 Joel Bruhns handled Daniel Feicco 6-1, 6-1.

No. 4 Tyler Pitman defeated Tom Schaefer 6-0, 6-1.

No. 5 Ben Tell won against Matt Scott 6-2, 6-2.

No. 6 Trevor Nimrod downed Sklar Adams 6-4, 7-5.

In the doubles matches, Polidore and Standring won 6-2, 6-4. Pitman and Brandon Ford won 6-2, 6-2 and Bruhns and Nimrod won 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-2.

Today, Del Norte travels to Fortuna. On Thursday, they face Eureka at home.
