Coulson Farms extends slowpitch softball dominance with victory in Wooden Bat Classic

After a week off, the Del Norte Recreation Department’s co-ed softball league got back on the diamonds at Pykes Field on Tuesday.

Brooke’s Angels, which didn’t play on Tuesday, remains the top team in the co-ed division with a 6-0 record with a week-and-a-half left in the regular season before the  playoffs begin.

The co-ed division is the largest of the three divisions in the recreation department’s league this year with 11 teams signed up. Heading into Tuesday’s games, five teams were within two games of first place.

Wooden Bat Classic

Over the weekend, the Del Norte Recreation Department held its final of three summer slowpitch softball tournaments with the Wooden Bat Classic at Pykes Field.

Coulson Farms added to its dominant performance this summer by winning its second tournament in a row after finishing as the runner-up in the Firecracker Tournament, the first tournament of the season.

Coulson Farms is also currently leading the men’s upper division standings with just one loss in regular-season play.

Travis Wright of Coulson Farms was named the tournament MVP of the Wooden Bat Classic.
