DN Grizzlies lose indoubleheader action

YAKIMA, Wash. — Despite two good pitching performances by Kevin Walsworth and Evan O'Brien, the Del Norte Grizzlies American Legion team fell in doubleheader action on Friday.

Del Norte is currently playing at the Firecracker tournament in Yakima, Wash.

In the first game against Fraser Valley, the Grizzlies lost 3-1.

Walsworth pitched a complete game and had a no-hitter through five innings. He gave up only three hits in the game.

The problem was serval fielding errors caused runs to score.

O'Brien went 1-for-3 with a double, while Justin Yslas was 1-for-3 with a run. Logan Lesina went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Jake McMasters was 1-for-3 with a single.

In the second game against Bellevue Honda, the Grizzlies lost 2-1. Del Norte was up 1-0, but Bellevue scored two runs in the sixth to seal the win.

O'Brien pitched a complete game and had six striekouts, while giving up only three hits.

The Grizzlies, who dropped to 6-17 for the year, will play in Yakima through Sunday.
