FORTUNA — The Del Norte High boys tennis team kept its opponent without a win for the second game in a row, downing Fortuna 9-0 on the road Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Warriors defeated McKinleyville 9-0.

Currently, Del Norte is 3-1 for the year, with its only loss coming against Arcata at home 9-0 the first game of the season.

Today, the Warriors face Northcoast Prep at home, weather permitting, at 3:15 p.m.

Originally, the match was set be played next week during spring break but was moved, head coach Kirk Olesen said. A key reason was many of the players are heading to Germany for a school band trip.

Against Fortuna, Olesen brought all his seniors with him and said "that senior experience really showed."

In the No. 1 match, Blake Polidore downed Garret Farnsworth 6-4, 6-1.

No. 2 David Standring won against Antonio Martinez 6-4, 6-0.

No. 3 Tyler Pitman handled Andrew Hopper 6-0, 6-1, while No. 4 Joel Bruhns downed Tom Shorey 6-1, 6-2.

No. 5 Ben Tell defeated Adam Coppini 6-0, 6-2. No. 6 Trevor Nimrod downed Ivan Cardoza 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles Polidore and Standring won 8-5, Pitman and Tell won 8-2, and Bruhns and Nimrod won their match 8-6.

In an extra singles match, which did not count towards the win or loss column, Chris Sanchez downed Anthony Chapman 6-1, 7-5.

On Thursday, Del Norte is set to face Eureka at home.
