(Top) Brandon Kakitsuka of the Del Norte High freshman football team breaks free for a 70-yard  kickoff return for a touchdown on Thursday at home against North Medford, Ore. The Warrior squad lost the game 30-12. Head coach John Valdez commended his team for its efforts against North Medford, which is a varsity powerhouse and consistently contends for the state title in Oregon. He said he was proud of the team's tireless, tough play.  ‘They played with a lot of pride and heart,' he said. Kakitsuka rushed for 110 yards on 10 carries and ran for a 30-yard touchdown. Valdez  said Soren Tedsen, who plays on the offensive line performed ‘especially well' and he commended the entire team for how they played. He added the game was a ‘moral victory' for the squad.
