The Del Norte football season looked back on its 2013 football season on Wednesday night at the team’s annual awards banquet.

The Warriors finished the season at 6-7 overall, but by the end of the season, it was clear they were better than a .500 football team.
The year finally ended in the North Coast Section Division 4 semifinals in Fortuna with a heartbreaking 21-20 loss to the Warriors’ conference rival.
“I knew going in it was going to be a hard fought year due to our schedule and some of the changes we were embarking on,” said head coach Ray Rook in his remarks. “With that said we continued to improve each week, and then peaked at the best time.
“Each week after a hard fought loss, injuries and all the negativity, this football team continued to work hard and strive toward a common goal.”
Rook also spoke about each of the seniors, who were freshmen when Rook took over the program in 2010.
“Seniors clearly lead the way to the success of our program and clearly helped establish this program into the future,” Rook said. “With the character these young men have shown on and off the field their futures are bright.”

Rook also took the time to thank all the parents, coaches, volunteers and boosters that made this season possible.
The junior varsity team fought its way to a 7-3 record this season. The freshmen team finished 0-2.
