Del Norte falls to Eureka at home
Home meet ends with 3-6 lossThe Warrior boys’ tennis team played the Eureka Loggers on the home courts Thursday, losing 3-6 overall. Senior Richard Thao brought his A-game, handily beating his singles opponent twice in a row by 7-5 scores. “He carried that positive motivation into doubles too. He and his partner, Jesse Lee, ended up winning their match (8-6),” said coach Sara Miller. “The thing that’s impressive about Richard is he just started playing last year and he wasn’t even close to being in our top six. This year he’s our number four player,” Miller said. This marks the season’s second loss to Eureka, a Division 1 high school with about 300 more students enrolled than Del Norte, which is in Division 2. Eureka’s No. 1 player took the league title last year. Miller described the Del Norte team, comprised mostly of seniors, as “a great group kids” and “strong players.” Here are the full results from Thursday’s matches, with Del Norte boys listed first: Singles 1.
