Fans of Del Norte High football will be able to watch the 2013 scrimmage during the team’s Gatorade Bowl on Friday at Mike Whalen Field.
Junior varsity players will scrimmage at 5 p.m. and varsity players will scrimmage at 6 p.m. Players will be divided up into Blue and Gold teams for the purposes of game play.
Admission to the event is free, although donations of Gatorade and other sports drinks are encouraged. All donations will go toward the Warriors football program.
Del Norte’s first official game takes place Friday, Aug. 30, at West Valley High in Cottonwood.
The Eagles traveled to Crescent City on Aug. 26, 2012 and defeated the Warriors, 41-6. West Valley went 9-1 during its regular season and advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation Northern Section Division 2 final, where it lost to Sutter High, 38-31, on Nov. 24, 2012.
Del Norte’s first home game is also its first Humboldt-Del Norte Big 5 League game: McKinleyville comes to Mike Whalen Field on Friday, Sept. 6.
The Warriors’ other home games for the 2013 season are as follows: Sept. 27 vs. Fortuna, Oct. 25 vs. Eureka, and Nov. 8 vs. Arcata.
The scrimmage will be broadcasted on the radio station KPOD 97.9 FM.
