If the first five games are any indication, it's going to be a good year for the Del Norte High softball team.
The squad improved to 5-0 for the season on Thursday, dominating Hoopa on the road in doubleheader action.
Del Norte won the first game 5-2 and the second contest 10-1.
Del Norte Warrior head coach Jackie Heuberger said the Hoopa Warriors are a very strong team each year, having won their division last year.
"I'm really excited," she said about the wins. "The girl's played really well and hit the ball well."
In the first game, Alyssa Bergquist continued her dominating pitching, striking out eight batters. She gave up five hits and one earned run.
Tasheena Natt was perfect from the plate, going 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs. McKinnze Holden walked all four times she batted in the first game and scored two runs.
"She has an excellent eye," Heuberger said.
Michelle Stacey went 2-for-4 with two singles, while Lauryn Lesnia went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI. Bergqusit went 2-for-3.
In the second game, Holden continued with the Warrior's strong pitching, getting four strikeouts, no earned runs and giving up three hits.
Jessica Morrow went 3-for-5 with two singles and a triple. Stacey went 3-for-5, with two singles and two RBI's. Paula Rhodes went 2-for-5 with two singles.
Del Norte next plays in doubleheader action on Saturday on the road at Brookings.
