The Del Norte High boys tennis team was able to bounce back from a defeat at Arcata on Tuesday to gain the victory against Ferndale 6-3, at home on Thursday.
Head coach Kirk Olesen said getting a victory was nice after being swept by Arcata, considered the best team in the area, 9-0, in the season opener for both teams.
"Everyone played pretty well," he said about Thursday's matches.
In the first match, Blake Polidore garnered the victory against Jimmie Griggs 6-3, 6-2. Olesen complimented Pomidore on playing well throughout the match.
In the second game, David Standring dominated Eli Gurnee 6-0, 6-0.
"He's got a big serve and played very well," Olsen said about Standring
In the third match, Ben Tell of Del Norte lost to Trevor Nesvold, 6-3, 7-6 ( 7-5), 6-0
His coach said Tell just had a bad game and believes he is determined to work hard and to bounce back during Saturday's match versus McKinleyville at home.
