Participating in its third track meet last week, the Del Norte High track and field team had a strong showing at a meet in Yreka on Saturday. Despite dealing with cold, rainy and foggy weather conditions, the team came through in several events, head coach Scott Lindsay said.

In the girls 100-meter hurdles, Kelsy Hintz came in first and Bailee McCulloch earned second. In the 200-meter dash, the order was reversed as McCulloch took first and Hintz earned second place.

Hintz earned first in the pole vault with an attempt of 11 feet.

McCulloch garnered another first place finish in the 400-meter relay and Hintz earned third.

Jessica Slayton placed fifth in the long jump and fourth in the high jump.

In the boys triple jump, Saxon Schultz took first place with a personal best of 14.2 feet. Teammate Eneas Caro placed third.

Roger McCovey garnered first in the discus and third in the shot put, while James Sampier earned a fourth place finish in the shot put.

Continuing the strong showing for the Warriors, Michael Worch earned first in the 300-meter hurdles.

Cody Hoffman placed second in the 200-meter dash and was fifth in the 100-meter dash.

Taylor Duncan scored a second place finish in the pole vault, vaulting 12 feet, and was fifth in the 400-meter dash.

In the boys 4x100 meter relay, the team finished in second, only one hundredth of a second behind the first place team. The boys team also earned a second place finish in the 4x400 relay.

Troy Wakefield placed third in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2.08 minutes, his best time of the season.

Joseph Alexandre placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles

On Friday, the Warriors participated in a track invitational event in Chico, competing against more than 40 schools.

Last Wednesday, the Warriors competed at a meet in McKinleyville and earned several first place finished, including first in both the girls and boys 4x100 meter relay.

The next meet for Del Norte is Wendesday in Fortuna.
