Howard Ford and his Rumiano racing team continued their successful run in North State Challenge Series Racing, placing third at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson.
Ford, of Crescent City, currently has a 137-point lead in the NSCS standings.
"Our car was good tonight, it just wasn't great," he said in a press release. "I thought we had at least a second place car but I guess third isn't too bad."
There are two races left in the NSCS season, with the possibility of Ford winning the championship coming closer to becoming a reality. He won the NSCS championship in 1999.
The NSCS will return to action on September 28th and 29th at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka. Depending on the outcome of that race, Ford could clinch the title.
